Dermal Fillers
Restore your youth with our high-quality dermal fillers in Sutton.
As we age, we naturally lose collagen and fat from our skin tissue and this manifests as loss of volume in the face. As a result of yearly loss, the cheeks may flatten out, causing the appearance of sagging jowls. The effects can be exacerbated by smoking, sun damage, alcohol consumption and a poor diet.
In order to remain youthful in appearance, the skin requires adequate stores of collagen, elastin and other vital substances. The collagen works like scaffolding and it supports the face. Once you lose it, the tissues become thinner and you see more wrinkles, folds, and fine lines.
The way that we address the cosmetic concerns associated with age has changed significantly since the development of injectables like dermal fillers.
Dermal fillers are products formulated to restore a more youthful appearance by replacing volume and softening lines around the eyes, nose, and mouth. Dermal fillers for laugh lines and smile lines are very common. Fillers may also be used to enhance the fullness of the lips and cheeks.
How do dermal fillers help?
Dermal fillers are a synthetically made material, which is usually derived from hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid is found naturally within our bodies and it acts as a lubricant by attracting and storing water. The fillers mimic this property to restore the loss of volume caused by ageing.
Are they safe?
Yes, fillers are considered very safe. Many thousands of patients have been treated with very little reported side effects.
As your body naturally produces and stores hyaluronic acid, there are minimal complications. Most complications are due to the injections rather than the filler material, and these can include minor swelling, bruising, and bleeding. They normally last up to three days at the most.
Allergies are very rare and can cause redness, itching and swelling.
Does it hurt?
During the procedure, we normally apply either topical (cream) anaesthetic to make it comfortable for you or local anaesthetic to freeze the lip so that you experience zero discomfort.
How long does it last?
This depends upon the material that we use. For finer lines and wrinkles, we use a product that is thinner and has finer particles, and the results normally last around 6-12 months. For areas with larger amounts of loss of volume, we would use a product with thicker particles, which can last up to 18 months.
