Local Anesthetic: For those patients who are slightly anxious, all you need is TLC and a caring, gentle dentist. Most patients who fit into this category will do well with a gentle dentist alongside local anesthetic. The local aesthetic is Gentle applied to the region where treatment is needed and this will make the treatment pain-free. We always check to ensure you are completely numb before we start. If you are not, we applied more anesthetic until you are.
Oral Sedation: Our dentists are aware that some patients are anxious, and are trained to take your fears seriously and deal with them sensitively. This type of sedation involves swallowing sedative tablets approximately one hour dental treatment. This will make you feel quite happy, relaxed and often a little drowsy whilst remaining conscious. Eat normally on the day of Oral Sedation. Don’t drink alcohol before the treatment.
IV Sedation: IV Sedation is the best form of alleviating anxiety. A sedative is administered into your vein by our specialist doctor. This makes you feel very sleepy, relaxed and comfortable – alleviating any anxiety you may have. Once the procedure is over, the anesthetist will administer a drug that reverses the sedation which wakes you up. Although you are pretty much back to normal, we recommend that someone looks after you for the rest of the day. We recommend that you avoid driving, cooking and making any importance decisions.
